What is a referral fee

When Peter Tumbas introduces you to a North Carolina real estate agent through NC Home Intel, Peter may receive a referral fee from the receiving agent if that introduction results in a completed real estate transaction.

Who pays the referral fee

The referral fee, if applicable, is paid by the receiving agent from their commission at closing. You, the buyer or seller, do not pay the referral fee. It is not an additional charge layered on top of your transaction.

Does the referral fee affect my agent commission

The referral arrangement does not affect the commission you negotiate directly with your agent. Your commission negotiation with the referred agent is entirely separate from any arrangement between Peter Tumbas and that agent.

When will I know about a referral arrangement

North Carolina REALTORS guidelines require that referral fees be disclosed to the customer in time to aid decision-making. You will be informed of any referral arrangement before you commit to working with the referred agent. All referral arrangements are handled in writing.

What if there is no referral arrangement

Not every introduction results in a formal referral arrangement. Some introductions are made as a professional courtesy. If there is a formal referral agreement between Peter Tumbas and the receiving agent, you will be notified explicitly.
